A Woman of the Dust

 A woman of the dust
Half clothed thrown at his feet
Accused of being an adulteress

He who sees our hearts
Drew circles in the sand
Looked gently into her eyes
As the tears fell to her hands
Shamed she bowed a lovely head
To seem as they had taunted
Jesus saw her soul untainted

A woman of the dust
Half clothed thrown at his feet
Accused of being an adulteress

He saw the course of day
Where forced by her mate
Abused and sent to another's bed
Their plan conceived that way
To trap the Christ by Hate
The law they said is this
To throw stones for such sins
Death is the means to her sin's end

A woman of the dust
Half clothed thrown at his feet
Accused of being an adulteress

Hands stilled within the sand
Then wrote a message there
Her accuser's saw and trembled now in fear
He saw the acts that they had done
"If any man is without sin¼Let him cast the first stone."
Into the silent crowd
These words of power fell

A woman of the dust
Half clothed thrown at his feet
Accused of being an adulteress

Christ gently cupped the tear stained face
Now full of peace and grace
Covering her in his dignity
He said with all tranquility
"Woman¼ where are thine accusers?"
"Go and sin no more."

She arose and with virtue adorn

A woman of the dust
Half clothed thrown at his feet
Accused of being an adulteress

Mercy and Justice granted sweet
For a woman of the dust
I like her am a woman of the dust
In Christ I place my trust
He saw past a sin
To a tormentor's den
Cried then unto me

"Go and sin no more¼
Arise and with virtue adorn."
I find peace in his grace
Covered in his dignity
Clothed in his glory
A woman of the dust
