It lies between the point of selfish need and surrender

A fragile step where we are most vulnerable

To taking a hold of trust with trepidation

Exposed and bare as a raw nerve

It pulses within the bedrock of emotion

When you choose to surrender it to someone you risk all

Trembling in the hope of rejoiceful reciprocation

Shattered in pieces if the result is utter rejection

Dangerous if coupled with affection and dreams

Destroyed a blow dealt by desire and distrust
